that it is, but a must to "cool-down" after having a "sizzling-warm day" at work, when I, as nurse, had to be doing any thing possible a nurse in view of her capacity, profession, role, skill and ability as caregiver, and also administrator from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
One can imagine how hectic it can be in a dept, where you as nurse, had to carry the phone as it is one of guardnurse responsibility to answer calls from different sources (be it from a physical therapist, an ergo-therapist, a doctor, a nurse calling from hospital, a patient's next of kin, a colleague calling from home telling she is sick etc.) Imagine that you are on duty not only as a nurse doing paper work, but as a nurse primarily doing "nursing" but also attending several other things at the same time, running up and down the stairs (which I prefer than to take elevator) because the others you are working with today, needed some nurses observation on patients condition and evaluation on her findings.
CLOCK is ticking forward, you see that you are behind the schedule now for 30 minutes, you feelthe pressure growing, this is the pressure that every nurse experience and everyone working with you also experience. The telephone is ringing perpetually from clients or patients, because they need your help, and you answer the phone while running the stairs promising you will soon be there, aong the way, you meet one patient asking a question you have to answer (properly) as this is expected from a nurse. The patient was contented and felt secured, you got the energy you need, patients contentment is an elixir of energy that a nurse need day in and day out, the same when you hear positive feedback from your colleague thanking at the same time, that you cared to listen and stopped for a while to attend to her.
THIS IS HOW I DESCRIBED ONE OF MY HECTIC DAY AS NURSE AT THE CARE+ DEPT.
