Nursing. An inspiration. (It is about love & care and charity)

For about 4 hours ago, I was fetched here at home by a neighbor who witnessed an event on someone who got ill about 150 meters down the road.
A male hiker suddenly settled into the bench, he was cold-sweating and hyperventilating and was very scared and crying . I came fast on the spot and tried to figure out what happened and helped the man together with 2-3 others. I was told that they already called up an ambulance. I held the man by the hand  all the time and spoke softly to him and assured him that the ambulance was on its way. My presence and that I held his hand , made him felt safe and this made him calmed down . He had a blood-pressure fall and was freezing. So I instructed the others to get some blanket to cover him and keep him warm. I saw he experienced  inner cold and was shivering. He said he had a blood clot before. The story. This stranger came walking from Os, which is southward, and a 15 minutes drive  by car to Kalandseidet, the place where I lived, and we found him some 150 meters down by the road. He was lucky someone has spotted him where he laid by the busstop bench. The time  was around six p.m. Experience and observations made me to  make some conclusions based on some information we got from him and my clinical observation.

Considering  the reduced heart capacity which resulting to poor pumping of blood, leads to poor blood circulation and shortness of breath was the reason behind the illness. That was my theory. I hurried home to find my b.p. equipment and was about to take some blood pressure and pulse when the ambulance came to pick him up. Now he is safe, for he is on the hands of the professionals, i thought and felt relieved. The ambulance staff  thanked us for the help and told us that what we did was right.

And now, in the evening , 10 minutes ago, my neighbor came knocking at the door. She was extremely happy  for my helped and that the ill-fated man  was brought to the  emergency ward.  Despite of the fact that the man was  a total stranger, we did our best to helped him when he got ill.

My neighbor came with 5 stems of  fresh roses and a box of  milkhearts-chocolate for me  as thanks for your help. This moves me to tears .

Now this story was from yesterday, written first in norwegian and today also in english version
so all people have the chance to read and understand, for it concerns us all, regardless of race and
nationality. Love and compassion, care and help knows no boundaries, we need it all!

It is so wonderful to know that people care about one another.
And I am glad to have neighbors like I have.
Yesterday's happening was a good sign. People really care and is ready
to give help.
Now I know that they know that I care about them too.
We have to start to care with one another, to make this world
a better place to live. we must not be afraid to extend a hand, to
touch other with love and compassion.
Thinking that next time, it could be you or me who may need help.
Neighbors. I feel I am lucky to have
wonderful neighbors like I have, who really care.
It is touching and I am profoundly thankful.
An act of love like yesterday gives hope
and inspiration.
